16GB of RAM standard (you can upgrade the 13in to have 16GB, but doesn’t come standard). When you opt for the 15in, you’re obviously getting the larger screen and battery, but you’ll also get: The reason they can’t be spec’d as high is because of space and battery-size. Just make sure to buy your wife whatever dongles she needs for her projector (if it works through Bluetooth/WiFi, you don’t need anything, but knowing schools the projector probably isn’t that fancy) because the MacBook lineup is usbc-only. The computer is otherwise a fantastic machine to use. All these things should keep the keyboard running for a long time. Also, keep the lid closed when you can to prevent dust and dirt from getting under the keys (it shouldn’t since the 2018 MacBooks have the 3rd gen keyboards that have a protective lining). Your fingers are meant to stay close to the keyboard to allow for faster typing (one of the reasons why they keys are almost flat and have little space between them). Just know that the way you type on it matters it’s not to be slammed like a regular keyboard. Then again, I’m pretty young and younger people tend to be more open to change than others, so idk how your wife will take the different keyboard.

I came from the 2014 MacBook Pro and while the keyboard is different, I find it enjoyable in a different way. I have the 2018 MacBook Pro (15in) and I personally like the keyboard. That’s like you telling a doctor that they don’t know anything more than anyone else who doesn’t work for the insurance companies. It’s simply a false statement to say that I know so little about the product. Doing tech work has been my career for almost fifteen years now. You have no right to insult me like that. You have no knowledge or anything anymore than anyone else not working at Apple I do my best to tell people Apple’s position on these matters, but it doesn’t do much good when the client still has the issue. Being a middleman means I don’t get any blame for the issues. It’s better though since I don’t actually work for Apple. Then again, it pains me to see the look on people’s faces when their hardware fails due to Apple’s poor designs. I guess I should be grateful that Apple keeps making mistakes. It’s what I do and my clients agree that I’m good at my job. I am a self-proclaimed expert and my Apple certifications back it up. The difference here is that they keyboards are not being abused and yet they fail seemingly on their own. My job means I only see people’s computers and phones at their worst. I have four other clients with new 2018 MacBook Pros who have had their keyboards fail as well. This subreddit is not endorsed or sponsored by Apple Inc.
